Blue Cup Pale Ale & Legacy Lager - for Columbia Country Club
Branding & Packaging Design
For Columbia Country Club's custom beer collaboration with Brookville Beer Farm, I was tasked with designing packaging. Initially named "Blue Cup Pale Ale" (later changed to Blue Cup Light), the creative mission was to pay homage to the iconic blue solo cups, a signature feature of the Club’s beverage service. Due to county regulations requiring the Club to discontinue the use of the blue cups around the Club, they wanted to honor this beloved tradition with the rollout of a new alcoholic beverage offering.
The “Blue Cup Pale Ale” design concepts revolved around the nostalgia and significance of these blue cups. Two main creative directions were explored: one featured a can designed to visually mimic the original cups; the other portrayed a blue cup on the golf course, capturing the image of where these cups were most often seen and enjoyed by members.
Another proposed beer concept, the “Legacy Lager”, was developed to commemorate the Club’s rich history. This alternative design incorporated a vintage photograph of the Clubhouse from the early 1900s, evoking a sense of timeless tradition and legacy.
Through these design options, the project successfully married nostalgia with branding, creating a unique and meaningful packaging experience for the Club’s members.
